The Family of ATV / Utility Trailer Plans

Here are the plans for a couple of 2 place ATV trailers.  These are designed with the same Strength, on road Stability and over all Versatility as with our line of utility trailers.

ATV Trailers

Single Axle ATV Trailers & Options
Plans are available in 2 sizes -- each for 2 ATV's:
  • The smaller size (5'x 10.5' bed) is perfect for taking the cycles to the fun.

  • The larger size (6'x 11') is a little larger to carrying some extra gear if needed.
- Both are designed for a single 2000# or 3500# axle.

- Both plans come with lots of options for customizing the trailer to your needs.  Things like:

  • Ramp & Ramp Storage Options
  • Bed Material & Height Options
  • Front Storage / Shield Options
  • Tie-down Options
  • Tailgate Option
  • And More ...
     * Do it yourself and build it to meet your needs. *

For Strength and simplicity, the trailers use standard steel beams with triangulation for rigidity.  Some other trailer designs are weak and require short sides.  Not these.  They are strong, by design, starting at the frame.

Towing Stability, is achieved by adhering to the fundamentals, adjustable options for various load types and standard features like a tongue long enough for proper vehicle spacing and maneuverability.

Design Versatility brings axle and brake options for load and bed height, sides (options and variations), a top (or not), several bed options and a fold down tailgate/ramp -- all included in the trailer plans.

Finally, Options.  These plans have options like hidden ramps, motorcycle stands, an aerodynamic front, toolbox mounting, infinitely variable tie-down placement, etc. all included, and specifically designed for ATV's.

ATV Trailer Plans Technical Information:

  • * Trailers built from these plans have beds with an actual size 1.5" wider, and 3.5" longer than indicated.

  • Overall length including the tongue is 52 - 58 inches beyond the indicated bed length.

  • Trailer bed height will depend on design options chosen and will range from 16 inches up.  (Bed height shown is a low 18")

  • Max load capacity depends on the axle option, and includes the trailer weight.

  • Several options are included with each set of plans to provide a wide variety of function.  Some options are mutually exclusive.  Not all options are shown in the pictures here.

  • Trailer weight will vary depending on design options.  Weight of the trailer increases with length, width and increased axle capacity.

  • For more plans info, read about what the plans contain, and why our trailer plans are better.

Construction :  Requires metal working skills like cutting, drilling, set-up & welding.

If you would like to build one of these trailers, complete, easy to follow, fully illustrated plans can be ordered here.  Other tools like a Small Gantry Crane are very helpful and plans can be ordered here.

See more utility trailer plans at the Trailers Home Page, and for more information on trailers in general, read the articles "What makes a good Trailer Design?" and "Choosing the Right Utility Trailer"

* Trailer load capacity is dependent on axle(s), components and material options used.  It is also highly dependent on materials, construction techniques, assembly methods and proper load application -- and includes the weight of the trailer.  Load capacity does not include capacities for purchased parts such as the hitch, chain, springs, axles, tires, etc..  Do not exceed manufactures limits.  Always use caution, proper safety equipment and tie downs when loading and towing a trailer.  Secure all objects to trailer before towing.
