Heavy Duty Adjustable Gantry Crane

Need a Crane?  Here are the plans for an excellent gantry style crane or engine hoist.  These plans include lots of options for size and capacity.  This overhead crane is height adjustable for ease of use and can be disassembled for storage.  Best of all ... you can build it yourself !
Mobile Overhead Crane

Mobile Overhead Crane

This crane is an extension to our very popular Mobile Overhead Crane, but, by customer requests, this version is larger, taller, wider and has options for greater capacity.  It also includes options for an aluminum beam.

The flexible design has telescoping legs allowing beam clearance to adjust vertically (depending on choice of sizes).  from 6.8 ft - 10 ft with the small size, or from 9.5 ft - 15 ft with the larger size -- and several size options in-between.

Width options range from a 10 ft to 25 ft with beam sizes from 5" to 10" I-beams.*

Construction :  Steel cutting, drilling & welding required.
Load Capacity :  Depending on size and options, from 1,000 to 6,000 lbs*  See notes below.

Order Plans

Crane capacity is a function of the height, width, and beam options chosen.  Plans include several graphs showing the effects of beam type, length and under beam clearance height with instructions for choosing.  Since these plans cover a wide range of options, be prepared to do some figuring.  You'll need to know the required load, span width and how tall the crane must be.

Plans include instructions with lots of illustrations, a List of Materials and Construction Hints for building the crane.  More on what is in the plans.

To make your lifting chores even easier, check out the accessories! -- our "Winching Pole" & Load leveler are the perfect additions for most (shorter) gantry style cranes.  (May not work well with cranes over 10 ft.)

* Load capacity is for the crane is a static vertical load and is highly dependent on materials used, construction techniques, assembly methods and load distribution.  Capacity numbers quoted are extremes.  Several beam choices are available, including aluminum.  Higher (taller) cranes and wider (span) cranes have lower capacity.

Load capacity does not include capacities for trolley, cables, chains or other hoist equipment used.  Do not exceed manufactures limits.  Always use Extreme Caution when lifting.
